The Iconoclast

Who is this iconoclast out in the digital domain trying to mess with everything and change things?

I’m an Internet veteran.

  • I was on LambdaMOO before the great crash of 92.
  • I can still be found on LamdbaMOO. username White-Wolf
  • I was creating web-pages back in 94.
  • I am a member of the Dot.Com era who somehow lived through the crash of 2000, but my marriage didn’t.
  • I’ve been online since 89.
  • I’ve worked with the best and know what works and what doesn’t.

I know marketing:

  • created web strategies to place companies at the top of their sector.
  • understand traditional and online marketing.
  • believe in doing things differently, but intelligently.
  • have promoted everything from bands, to clothing lines, to software companies.
  • worked with clients such as Coca-Cola, the FAA, IBM, Apple, Sun, and Canon to name but a few.

I’m a geek:

  • I founded the first Linux User group in Western Canada. Helped to found 3 others.
  • I’ve been a speaker on the topics of Open Source, Open Standards, Information Tech Security
  • I have used UNIX since 88.
  • I run Mac’s at home and have used Apple products since 83.
  • I’m the one, a certain Wall Street newspaper interviewed about Windows 2000 the day it launched.
  • I’ve worked with the likes of ESR, Tim Lee-Berner, and other great gods of the ‘net.
  • I’ve developed standards. I have programmed for GNU/Linux, BeOS, Windows, and a ton of other UNIX projects.
  • I’ve contributed to the Apache project.
  • I’ve deployed solutions that are still viable today as they were ten years ago.

I’m educated:
  • I’ve studies social work at the undergrad and grad level.
  • I’ve studied psychology at the grad and undergrad level.
  • I’ve studied computer science at the grad and undergrad level.
  • I’ve developed course content for NAIT, University of Alberta, University of Western Ontario, and UVic.
  • I’ve studies First Nation’s topics from the undergrad to PHD level. Contributed papers, ideas and concepts on these topics.
  • I’ve studied business communications, marketing, business, and business development.
  • I’ve been mentored by some of the greatest minds alive today, and in turn have mentored others.
  • I’m working towards a PHD in Behavioral Psychology.
I’m socially aware:
  • I’ve worked with homeless since 1990.
  • I’ve fought poverty since 1989. And I have a plan to wipe it out in Canada and the USA.
  • I believe in Make Poverty History.
I’ve raced sports cars, mountain bikes (semi-pro), and toured on the “A” circuit as a lead singer.
I’m a father. I am not old. But I do have wisdom. I have a CV and a resume and know the difference between both.
If I said I didn’t want to change the world I’d be lying.
I’m a talented:
  • dad
  • cook
  • photographer
  • writer (APA, MLA, poetry, prose, operas, you name it)
I:
  • think outside the box.
  • am a single parent.
  • don’t conform well.
  • can play well with others.
  • share well (there is a disclaimer on this one).
  • am me. And I am happy being me.
  • can be brutally honest.
  • am NOT afraid of risk.
  • a leader or revolutionary depending on who you talk to. Go figure, as I never set out to be.
  • don’t follow trends.
  • believe in making a difference and helping others.
  • believe significance is more important then success.
  • am an Aries.
  • hopeless romantic.
  • a human being.

I am not the man you meet everyday, and I am very comfortable with that.
I want:
  • to wipe out homelessness in Canada
  • to be the best dad I can be.
  • to get married. ( I’m taking applications <grin> )
  • continue to be the person, people trust and who know will be there for them.
  • to help your business succeed.
